Royale Highlands Trout

The Farm
Largest Trout Farm in Africa This Highlands Aquaculture Initiative is destined to become the largest trout farm on the African continent. We created this opportunity in reaction to the rapidly growing demand for locally produced trout as well as the growing dependence of South Africa on imported trout. Added to this, large parts of Southern Africa are climatically capped for trout production. The Katse project meets the need for consistent year round supplies of large, high quality locally produced trout.

The initial project will produce 300 tons of trout per annum by means of proven net pen technology. Future phases at sites on Mohale, Muela and the proposed Polihali in the Mokhotlong district will expand upon this production over the next 5 years, delivering a total production of approximately 3000 tons.
